Camisole
is a french project created by Doctor Maboule and Lord L. Moloch.
They begin their art with a long introduction about problems in
human communication : “On a l’impression de ne pas
se connaître”. Imagine two people talking without
understanding and you will feel what “O naissance 638”
can be : an introduction devoted to disturbed people ! Also this
opus is dedicated to confined people and people who could be confined
after listening this opus. 14 tracks about toc 157 !!! A lot of
influences : Lord L.Moloch vocals remind me of Sisters of mercy
and Count Nosferatu Commando. Doctor Maboule do the rest with
a lot of gothic rythmics mixed with atmospheric parts, piano and
violin samples. He adds rythmics guitars parts and noises samples
sometimes to enlarge the whole. So, I feel their art like a mix
of electronic, gothic and industrial music influenced by mental
hospitals world and sado-masochism univers. Look at their lay-out
and you will understand why ! Naked women are dominated by people
clothed in chain with black garments and gasmasks. It reminds
me of Fornication visuals of course but their music is quite different.
A lot of keyboard, electronic drums mixed with gothic metal and
electronic parts. Sometimes it reminds me of Elend and sometimes
it reminds of old Mortiis stuffs. I found it very theatrical and
very dark sometimes. 14 tracks to make your opinion ! You will
not be disappointed with the time recording. I have to add that
the production has a high level sound recording. So, it’s
a good point. Not enough vocals parts maybe because too much atmospheric
parts played with keyboards only sometimes. Well, it’s just
my opinion because I found they could be much more disturbing
without it. They convinced me with a lot of good parts with this
stuff and I hope they will find more sickness in future.

Candlemass
: s/t (Messiah Marcolin / Mappe Björkman / Lars Johansson
/ Leif Edling / Jan Lindh / 9 tracks + 1 bonus track / 2005) by
HssH. At last Candlemass are back with the great Messiah Marcolin
singer. I was waiting for it for a long time ago. Remember the
past years ! 1989 was the death of this great man with Candlemass
except for live shows and live records. No new track ! “Tales
of creation” was the last studio record he did. I felt sadness…
He did not do anything else with the band until the 2005 year.
But he recorded some stuffs with his “Memento Mori”
side project. So he was not dead for everybody and it’s
a new resurrection with Candlemass again : “Our names are
written on the stars on heavens tree. Yes, nine by nine they die,
just like you and me”. You will enjoy this new opus if you
loved their “Nightfall” or “Ancient dreams”
stuffs. There are a lot of parts that remind their old creations.
But sound is new. More aggressive than ever. The best high sound
quality they did maybe. Less slow than on their old tracks and
more powerful. Yeah, they don’t forget their doom metal
influences but they add more rythmic parts inside. And what about
melodies ? Well, Messiah Marcolin sing with more medium variations.
It’s not more so high such as he did in the past. Less lead
guitars too. So, I felt it more dark sometimes. Listen to “The
day and the night” and feel their dark feeling. Ozzy could
open the track introduction because it sounds such as old Black
Sabbath stuffs. Then Candlemass’s doom follow. You have
to know you will find a bonus track at the end of the digipack
opus. Pleasant ! Maybe not the better track played by Candlemass
but it’s interesting because it’s very powerful inside.
A cover maybe ? I don’t know ! A great hour of music with
the legendary kinds of doom in any case. I hope it’s the
definitive reunion this time. Be the Candlemass’s cross
with you and let me die in solitude !

brutal death metal and that's what it is there again. Quite sound
recording with hardcore influences sometimes for a masterpiece
of brutality. Carnal Lust melodies remind Edge of Sanity on Purgatory
Afterglow opus and give the best to this Whore of Violence with
old school swedish death metal influences. Too bad we can't read
all the lyriks because of the inside book cd which is too much
dark. But be sure it talks about human death and be sure it's
brutal death metal too. Just listen to the kult Tontons flingueurs
movie sample and you'll know what brutal means...."c'est

this sample but it's kult anyway !).

2004. Nihilistic Holocaust. Do you want some brutal death metal
stuff ? You'll get it with this 4 way split tape done by Gabsk
from Nihilist Holocaust. Enter ! We begin with Carmina. The band
formed in the 2000 year as a subproject of some Ananda musicians.
The 4 tracks of this split are taken from the same sessions than
those of the forthcoming split available with Shogun Recs/Evil
Biker. Carmina play typical brutal death metal and it's efficacious
and that's enough to say. Do you like this kind of music ? Yes
? So, buy it ! Then Amethyste follow with brutal tracks again.
Death metal and grind influences this time. The band was more
melodic in the 2003 year. If you know them at their beginning,
you will note they changed for more brutality. Atrophy begin on
the B-side with another kind of death metal. Old school with melodic
and technical parts in 1999, they evolved in a more technical
and brutal music with their second release Dédales. Read
the Dédales review for more informations about this band.
Then Darklord end the tape with their brutal death black metal
from Australia. The tracks are taken from their first demo 93
...by the force of sacred magic rites. It's still interesting
to discover other underground bands. And that's what this tape
is. A collector tape for those who listen to this kind of bands.

2003. CD-R (demo)It's not a new Michelin tyre publicity kampaign
but a demo of a one man's band projekt played by Gab from France.
18 tracks of grind death during 33 minutes with a raw produktion
but not too bad at all. Gad said the final production isn't vey
good but I think it remains listenable. Finally I'm quite satisfied
with the final result. Most of this demo rekorded in august 2003
and most of guitar parts komposed by Gab from 1996 to 2003 except
for a part of the Blood Duster and Bathory kovers. Also, there
is some riffs of unused Gerbe of Life (r.i.p.) stuffs. So, you
kould enjoy it if you like G.o.L. which is a dead french band
now. But don't forget it's more raw than G.o.L. Redeemer of Substance
is a different track from this whole and is more played as Godflesh
did it. Then, tracks with Napalm Death and krossover influences
added to this stuff. Also, other influences you will diskover
too by listening to this opus. Never boring bekause it's very
varied really. Perhaps you'll find it not konceptual enough but
I prefer it like this bekause it's never monotonous. So, it's
an interesting stuff except the book kover release. It kould be
better than a simple xeroxed basik paper. The book kover is not
engaging really but there is a good stuff inside.

For some months already, circulated a mini cd 3 titles of this
new formation of thrash core entitled already very promising "Cubensis"
on this explosive sample... But nothing surprising because Cubensis
hides some surprises, among others the return of "Crass",
charismatic singer of the group of death thrash French "
Crusher " disappeared from the scene in the middle of the
90s.
We cannot say that Cubensis is the continuity of Crusher in spite
of the presence of the leader singer. Crusher died well and truly
and Crass decided to express himself in a more directed register
" Thrash core " than death metal. Thus let us forget
Crusher and let us dedicate maintaining us to Cubensis... The
album is as high as the sampling proposed on mini Cd, it is same
even more hard-hitting and brutal, the titles are marvelously
linked and every piece is very different because every riff is
minutely worked. Composition leaves has Crass of vocal possibilities
and this last one does not go without it.
He crosses in a voice(vote) roque has a singing(song) chorus mastered
uninhibitedly.
We notice here one qualities vocal unsuspected at this singer,
seen the result one understands(includes) why he(it) was necessary
for him to return on scene(stage) with a more opened style has
his(her, its) vocal competances. The singing(song) is variable
according to the title: clear voices(votes), singing(song) chorus,
and trash core voice(vote), with all the same a back taste of
influences of the style: machine head, Rough thruth, Napalm death
or " extreme noise terror ". On this album we feel(smell)
a certain maturity and especially a professionalism on behalf
of the musicians who are apparently ready for the scene(stage).
There is probably their first purpose: " to conquer the public
by the scene(stage) " and it is promising. What we shall
hold(retain) of this album it is the singing(song) which cannot
leave indifferent and the type of rhythmic very particular which
brings a new kind(genre) to conventional Thrashcore.

From
Spain, Crystal Moors offers on this album a rather surprising
black metal Pagan to see even completely different from the Pagan
metal which one have for custom to listen to. Probably of has
the origin of the group which is completely atypical in this music
style which generally is from the North. We shall not find the
exuberant sound of bagpipes and the others folk instrument who
are often used has the excess in some group of Pagan or Celtic
metal One finds it naturally but not of the begin has the end
on 80 % of the compositions. One can say that Crystal Moors remains
above all a group of metal, in the Celtic influences which uses
in a way measured the Celtic tones. The album can listen to of
the beginning has the end without ressentire this raz the bowl
that can arouse the too repetitive and annoying folk tones.
In the whole of the album, we find rhythmic warriors and the singings
black / death very forward in the whole of the compositions. It
is probably what make of this album a successful one, because
there's nothing like of rhythmic maids and a talented singer who
make the difference with the others ones. Altogether this album
is for me one very pleasant surprise, I invite the fans of Pagan
/ Celtic / folk and the same the others who as me are not a fan
ardent supporters of this music type to put an attentive ear to
this remarkable album.

Another
new release from the Manitou Music label: a band from Finland
called Crystalic. Born in the 1998 year with Korpiklaani and Masterstrokes’s
members, Crystalic play a progressive and melodic death metal
with different influences such as Nevermore, Death, Iced Earth
and Symphony X. A lot of good ideas makes the whole bewitching
inside: blameless soli with the guitars, the use of excellent
fretless bass parts, faultless hammered drums rhythms that alternate
with mid-tempo addition and also perfect death metal screams.
This stuff is diversified enough for a listening without get boring.
Thus, a powerful melodic and frantic opus. Last of all, the mastering
performed with Mikka Jussila from Finnvox Studios and it’s
a success. It could be a great release but that strikes me as
familiar because I listened to that kind of bands for a long time.
So, a good stuff without turning into an exceptional release.

«
Quintessence celtique » is the 2nd demo cd released by this
French band after « Jadis... Vers les Puretés ».
Cristalys focuses on the historic heritage, namely the Celtic
one. The Southern France-based band displays a fairly good epic
black metal with a few synth effects. Good point is the vocals,
which are really strong and vindicative. The other good point
is the tempo variations which give a good amount of diversity
to Crystalis’ compositions. « Quintessence celtique
» is a demo cd, so the production is not top notch yet,
especially the drums but that’s not a problem when you know
how they’re difficult to record without more financial means.
Yet, you can for sure appreciate the effort and will put in their
art and I got to admit this could give something really interesting
if they ever find a label, something that will happen I guess.
The final good point (and not the least) is the genuine and overall
atmosphere that really takes and develops from the first minute
to the last. Crystalis’ musicians are quite talented, this
is for sure. That being said plus the fact that this demo cd is
really convincing in displaying a noteworthy atmosphere should
enable them to get more opportunities in the future. I wish them
all the best.

First,
Crystalium is a French black metal band with a lot of thrash metal
influences. Then, this is the first release that I listened to
from this band. 11 tracks of which an introduction with a sample
taken from “Le chant des partisans”, an industrial,
also ambient track with “Passe le mot” and a conclusion
with “A l’origine” that borrows from Edvard
Hagerup Grieg. I call their compositions fast, dark, hateful and
powerful mixed with various rhythms and various melodies too.
Thus, this opus is not boring at all because Crystalium applies
power enough and it has more than one piece of musical aspect,
really. Therefore, they have an indisputable identity and it makes
this opus efficient enough. The sound is quite good enough, even
if they could do better with drums parts which are too much sharp
in my opinion. But the essential elements are quite here: listen
to “Entrailles et univers”, also “Discipline
nation negative” and “Doxa O Revelation” to
be sure of that: a powerful and bewitching opus with excellent
black metal compositions without keyboards. At last, the singing
harmonized to perfection with the whole. Thus, I recommend you
the listening of “Doxa O Revelation” if you enjoy
this kind of music. You will be not disappointed.
