One
of the black metal kings is back with another name and another
style which reminds us an old age now past when Immortal reigned
as master. Abbath is coming back with “I” (I as Immortal?)
It’s with a lot of skepticism I liste nit, and what a surprise!!!
Even if we didn’t refind Immortal and hopefully not, “I”
distil a metal music between heavy metal and a certain form of
music which was what Immortal became. Abbath’s voice, even
if she’s different, travels us through a good evolution.
Evolution and orientation could be a mix between what was immortal
and a metal band of the 80’s. Musically speaking, there
is a great control and it’s delightful for the ears. Some
solos remind me some good old W.A.S.P solos. We are far away from
the virtuosity of guitar heroes and you’ll appreciate the
musicality of the project. Songs like “the storm I ride”
or “Battalions” show us their influences from Immortal.
The band includes some Enslaved members and gives to this project
a prestigious mix from the Scandinavian extreme metal scene which
marks an extreme metal era.

MG42 Death Front (2004, Skeletons of Society, Infectious MG42,
demo CD-R) by HssH. Sick, sick, and sick project again of a one
man band called MG42 ! This is not easy listening really. Don't
expect some sweet melodies with MG42. This is war and this war
mixed with atomic noises of total destruction. A lot of war movies
and war documents samples are used to make the whole. Ten tracks
about the Death Front. Do you will survive to the end of MG42
war ?... I dont' know ! You probably will listen to all tracks
if you can listen to hard tech parts. Imagine the #4 Muckrackers
recording with more minimal [musical] parts and more extreme noise
samples and you will discover Infectious MG42. It's not for all
people really but you have to buy this stuff when you are searching
for extreme noisy technoïdicities of war.

/ Oracle / 8 tracks (Bontant Cathy/Suire Jean) 2003. H.A.R.
This
is the first opus of this french band and their kover looks like
Cupidon giving love to a dying man. Is Inhepsie a metal band with
a message of love ? It's better than it. Inhepsie talk about wind,
fire, water, earth, the evil and the Divine. This is very poetik
and you kould think it's an heavenly or mystik projekt because
of the lyriks. Their musik is not aggressive at all but melodik,
melancholik and atmospherik. No skreams, death vokals or what
ever reminds it but a melodik voice mastered by Cathy who sings
on all the tracks. Her voice is more influenced by Pot-house singers
than heavy metal voices and there is a good point bekause it make
it original. Jean akkompany her with guitars and bass and Cathy
add keyboards, programming and arrangements to the whole. This
whole looks like a tale with fairy feeling really. I invite you
to diskover Oracle bekause it's different from a lot of kurrent
metal bands. It kontains a lot of musikal influences and also,
it's very good played, very sensitive and they managed to get
a high sound quality. Cathy and Jean have another projekt kalled
In Vitae Eternam and had experiences with Maleficentia and Exhauster.
It proves that they are not beginners into the cirkle of musik.

Cd.Fourth opus of this legendary grind death band from the East
of France (Alsace rulezzzzzz !!!) and kalled Inhumate. Do you
want them to be slower this time ? Well, you will be disappointed
in that kase. Inhumate is still brutal. Brutal on rekord, brutal
in all fest they participate too. Do you know the meaning of grind
? Do you know the meaning of death ? Do you know the meaning of
mix of grind and death ? Well, this mix is Inhumate. And what
about the sound of this Grind your soul produktion ? I just have
to say that it's very professionnal ! Excellent mix, so excellent
sound. Tracks kome so fast in your face that you will never find
a quite moment of tranquillity. No sweet melodies with female
vokals or keyboards parts but just Christophe sick vokals without
effekts (as ever !!!) and without kompromise too and it's helped
with blasting guitars and blasting drums parts. Hey, I want some
lead guitars now !!! He,he ! Don't hope lead guitars with Inhumate
but sick (and sick again...) rythmik guitars played to strike
your head on a virtual (virtual, really ?) wall or a nail or a....mikrophone.
Yez, Christophe knows how to do that with a mikrophone. Look at
them on stage and you will understand it. You will understand
it too by bying this stuff bekause they added a cd-rom video clip
on this rekord and it's taken at at the Obscene Extreme Festival
2003 : Que ce soit le bordel ici ! and Rejoignez nous dans notre
trance ! and Faut que ce soit le souk ! said Christophe. It kompletely
illustrate their sickness really ! Hey, I found some riff which
sound like old MOD stuffs. But I will not tell you in which tracks
it is. Another reason to buy it ? Yes, absolutely ! All my support
to this french metal band !

INKISITOR
“s/t” 2005 . Here we have the untitled promo 2005
by French band located in Le Mans INKISITOR. It displays 4 tracks
of rather old-school and straightforward black metal with some
brutal parts akin to death metal.Pie 666, the only former member
left, has asked two ex-Cantus Bestiae members to help him on bass
and drums, as well as two ex-Katarmaz members on vokills and guitars
to record this blasphemy into concerto. The music performed by
the band makes me think of a copulation between Watain and Impiety,
as it presents a very efficient form of brutal black metal with
classic antichristian and blasphemic incantations and artwork. The
vocals are foregrounded and powerful, and if you listen well with
the lyrics in English, you can decipher a typical French accent
on some words, nothing disturbing, just a remainder of the location
of the band. The sound is quite good especially for a demo recording,
the drumming is great, even if the big drums are too much in the
background. To put things in a nutshell, this is a good and solid
demo recording, despite the fact that the band needs more time
and effort to find a personal approach towards his black art,as
sometimes the influences are a bit obvious, but this will come
with more releases and more experience. However, if all demos
could sound like this one, well, nothing shitty would be released,
but this will never happen… « Paths to no tomorrow, forsaken
».

Imperial
is a young true black metal band from Switzerland which are playing
on all the stereotypes, ugly artwork, silly national socialist
lyrics, a very bad production, done in a studio to try to look
like professionals,… Actually it took me weeks to be able
to get through the 28 minutes of this demo. They just got rid
of ALL the low frequencies to make it sound colder but in fact
it just sounds really strident and piercing. Seriously I have
never heard anything so painfully strident, and I can assure you
that I have lots of badly produced demos. This shit is just unbearable.
And it’s silly ‘cause musically they’re not
that bad, the songs are well structured, the singer is far from
being extraordinary but fits nonetheless quite well to the music.
Even the drum machine is used quite efficiently, and I must admit
that I tend to be very harsh with bands using a drum machine.
So in the end I would say that Imperial has an interresting potential
and might to be able to give us some really nice stuff in the
future but this demo is definetly not something that I would recommend
to anyone.

: Fausseté et Démesure / 7 tracks (Inocculta) Feb.2003Brutal
as melodic as atmospheric black metal without keyboards. Do you
know what I mean ? Well, a lot of tempo variations mixed with
extreme killing vokals as Burzum did it so well. When tempo is
quick, it's brutal and bewitching and when it's slower, it's brutal
too with dark and depressive melodies this time. Excellent guitars
parts ! Sometimes medieval and classic arppegios milden Inocculta's
temperature and bring atmosphere of our european ancestors. I
think that these guitars melodies will be really too short for
other metal maniaks than extreme black metal afficionados to appreciate
the whole. But when you believe in old black metal rules or when
you begin to accept them, you will succumb beneath Inocculta musical
empire. And it's a quite sound recording, so what are you waiting
for to buy this sickness ? This stuff is certainly not for novices
but novices could still learn, isn't it ?... Definitively for
Burzum adepts anyway !
