Obscene
Extreme 2003 sampler / 38 tracks / 30 bands. CD (pro) Well,...before
to talk about the bands on this sampler I have to say that I find
the kover as stupide as ridikulous as juvenile as basik. But the
book printing quality is excellent and you kan find all bands
kontakts and infos you need. So, let's talk about the tracks now
! Here we go ! I was able to listen to it and CRIPPLE BASTARDS
came to open the doors of this cd. Their musik is brutal and it's
hard kore metal from Italy. Their voices remind Chronical Diarrhoea
sometimes. Efficacious ! Then, DESECRATION...brutal death metal
with no imagination really. Boring but good sound rekordind. Sorry
but Entombed did it better. DEAD INFECTION now ! A mix of Nausea
and Exit 13 ep. Do you remember this ep ? (thrash records from
France). INGROWING follow ! typikal grind death band with quite
sound rekording. Then, OBSCENITY. Old skool brutal death as Deicide
and Hypocrisy did it so well. DENAK...influenced by Napalm Death
with a good sound rekording but too much influenced...and Napalm
Death is more convincing. INHUMATE play brutal death metal since
1990 and they know how to tell (play) it to you. Underground is
the track they chose for this sampler. Taken from Growth opus.
Pleasant ! Then, CENTINEX. Well,...Entombed guitars sound (Clandestine
opus) and typikal death metal. INTERNAL SUFFERING follow with
their typikal grind but boring ! I hope they do better with other
tracks. CEREBRAL TURBULENCY now...excellent sound rekording but
nothing else to add except they play as Napalm Death does and
with powerful variations. A success but nothing new ! FLESHLESS
begin a song with a blues rock introduktion and end with thrash
metal guitars and death metal vokals. Pleasant ! Then, ISACAARUM
bring their thrash metal with hard kore influences. Not too bad
and a quite sound rekording. CROPMENT is a thrash metal band too
but add death and black or grind vokals. AHUMA GRANUJO....what
?....so what ? this is the sekond band on this sampler which mix
Nausea and Exit 13 (old ep !!!) to play something. This is very
funny bekause I listened to these bands ten years ago and more.
So, pleasant but not new, sorry ! A NOMENMORTIS track follow and
bring original funny breaks in the beginning. Pleasant again but
too short ! PARRICIDE,...well...typical death metal without imagination.
MASTIC SCUM. They probably know what scum means and their musik
looks like a death metal with krossover influences. Good sound
! MALIGNANT TUMOUR...listen to the old Napalm Death releases and
you'll understand why...why I say M.T. have to work their musik
rather than playing like this. NEURAL BOOSTER now ! Ok it's extreme,
it's grind (of course !) but it's boring ! SANATORIUM follow and
play thrash metal...monotonous ! RZEZNIA is a brutal death metal
band and I have to say it's effikacious. Not new but effikacious
!...and too short ! PUTREFY is another typikal young grind band
(and I hope they are young !...) with just bad musikal parts on
this sampler. WELKIN is different really with an excellent sound
rekording. They play good enough and it's death metal. But I have
to add it's konventional. PROTEST is a grind death band. Typikal
and boring ! LANIENA MENTIS now ! Another typikal death metal
band ! DESTROYING DIVINITY. Death metal with black metal parts.
Pleasant but not new ! Quite sound rekording. PERVERSE...well...too
short guys, your track looks like an introduktion and there is
no voice. Sorry, I have nothing to add. The last bands on this
sampler are LYCANTHROPHY which mix grind influences with hard
kore parts, BEFF CONSPIRACY (do they like french frogs ?) which
is a new kind of grind musik : the brutal british bovine grind...(that's
what they say !) and PURULENT which is a brutal death band with
a good sound rekording for this track. So, good and bad parts
into this sampler. But it's not easy to talk about a band when
you listened to one track. That's why I added kontakts for all
of them just if you want to know more. Click on the bands and
you will see !

: Rage to Revenge (Occult 2001) Painkiller Records cd. By HssH
Occult don’t play something new. It’s old and older
again ! Old thrash metal with Vio-Lence, Testament, Exodus, Slayer
and older Bay Area thrash metal bands influences. They mix it
with black and death vocals to make the whole. So, it’s
very powerful and a success for this kind of music even if it’s
not inventive enough. 9 tracks in your face on this record. Don’t
expect something else than old riffs on old fast thrash metal
drums. A good point with the singers because they alternate between
black and death vocals and it reminds old Deicide stuffs when
they scream together.

OESTRE
Biotope 2005. Impressive ! That’s the only word I could
write for two days after listening to this EP.
Oestre is like a mutant, a musical nutrient broth, in which you
can find a lot of different colours. Different influences such
as Gojira, Cryptosy, Slayer, even Slipknot and more generally
the rhythms and the efficiency of Hardcore combined with the melodies
of metal and some industrial samples. The result is very, VERY
impressive : a real lesson for every kind of musicians ! They
are all great, except the singer who gives nonetheless a raw aspect
to the band, which is also important in my opinion. This EP is
surprisingly long : it lasts 36 minutes and it is composed of
5 songs and an outro. Therefore each songs lasts 5 or 6 minutes,
without any long break. The whole EP is very intense, and I won’t
analyse each songs part by part but it is so rich that you shouldn’t
get bored. The only reproach that I could make is the lack of
diversity of the singer’s tone, and the choice of singing
in French which could become an handicap in the future. But once
again, this is a very impressive EP and I strongly recommend it.

(Yulkernathh). March 2002Side projekt of the Swarms of Darkness
singer/guitarist. This is pure depressive dark and black metal.
Raw sound and musik without kompromise.Practically the whole tape
is played very slowly like old Bethlehem did except on a fast
and short track. There is nothing new in this kind of musik but
this is what Yulkernathh wanted to do. No astonishment and no
disappointment for those who are looking for the true black metal
values.

Oppression
: s/t / 5 tracks (Thibaut / Jonathan / Julien / Cyrille / John).
Demo tape. Young french band influenced by old Slayer stuffs and
Morbid Angel school. First release and they chose to do it on
a demo tape with a professionnal cover. The sound of this demo
is quite enough to make an opinion. I have to say that they know
how to play typical thrash death kompositions with their instruments
and everything is ok for all the tracks. They play with an high
musikal level and I think they kould rekord a full lenght opus
immediately. A lot of lead guitars with good melodies, brutal
or mid-tempo rythmiks added with typikal death metal vokals which
does the whole varied and diversified enough. Don't expect something
as an original music there. This is not what they want to do.
But you kould enjoy it if you listen to old thrash death bands.
They said to me that they kould have a better sound with this
tape bekause they were ripped off by the man who did the final
mix. But I found that the sound is not bad at all on this tape.
Better than a lot of beginning stuffs, really ! So, this band
has to be supported and followed.

2002.Excellent sound rekording quality and talented musikal kompositions
for this french melodik black metal band. This opus is an ode
to Nature and they prove it on tracks as Le théâtre
de la nature, acte I : Le combat" and "Le théâtre
de la nature, acte II : Le repos". There is 3 akts for this
autoproduktion stuff and 20 minutes rekording. I said it's black
metal and that's what it is exaktly but you kan find some guitars
parts which sound very heavy sometimes and that's a great mix
with other black metal parts. Black metal Achernar's vokals alternate
with a lot of lyriks vokals parts and he does it perfektly. Also,
Clevdh (drums) add backing vokals to bring more orkhestral feeling
to this master piece. This band has an huge musikal potential
an believe me, you have to listen to them kounting from now because
it's a band to take in konsideration. This stuff is a professionnal
opus and they have rekorded a demo cd-r before. Crys (guitar on
this pro stuff) left the band and Frey and Assur-Nazirpal joined
the band in order to play new guitars parts. Orakle's History
as their stories go on !!!

Osirion
play "Sapaudiae true black metal". This is old black
metal school from France with strong 90'early black metal bands
influences. So, they play typical black metal melodies and rythmik
associate to thrash metal variations. Full of hate and rage, this
opus will convince those who remember old Darkthrone or Morbid
and Bathory releases and who still listen to this kind of black
metal. Not for monotheism adepts ! There is no real drums but
quite rythms programs. The sound is raw and all guitars and vokals
are quite mastered. The musicians played with Animus Herilis before.
So there are not beginners.

2003. This is the new release of the band after An opus for Lucifer
and I have to say it's very different. There is no more thrash
metal influences as they did before but more and more old school
black metal parts. Yezz, this is more and more evil !!! A kover
of Dark Funeral has been rekorded to remind it and Osirion never
plays anything else than true "Sapaudiae" black metal.
Barbituric joined them to play drums and Maldoror is their new
bass player. Nieluge still plays guitars and voices on this opus
but then he left the band and Valharik took his place in april
(2003). Osirion still enjoy nihilism and "doesn't kare to
destroy the khristian made history". The sound of this stuff
is korrekt, better than ever, raw, underground, without kompromise
again and so....great !!!...For all true metal warriors who believe
in old black metal school !

Otargos
is quite different again with the lay-out that they chose for
this new opus. We could talk about a modern vision of what black
metal is. It is over the rules that people could imagine or impress
on this kind of music.
Codec 666 was previously full of promise and Ten-eyed nemesis
is a brutal world which mix Dark Funeral and Seterial influences.
Other black metal bands will be very likely surprised and frightened
because all guitars parts have a excellent standard of music and
rythms are quite technically impressive. Adding guitars solis
with old strong death metal influences, the new brutal black metal
generation is coming from France. But there is something wrong
with drums parts sometimes in my opinion : it is not diversified
enough to intensify the whole. Nevertheless this opus has an excellent
quality with all tracks inside and it’s like a new breath
for this kind of music in France. It’s so far away from
all stock phrases. Thus, Otargos should take a place into the
extreme black metal underworld without they being trapped.
