Pagan Eternal : Goatlord Devastation / 5 tracks (Ipes Luciferia/Cain). 2001 Have a particular attention to this other french black metal band. They play a dark b.m. which sometimes reminds Graveland , especially for the vokals and the melodies. The sound is perhaps not so good as their musik but i think they will probably do it better for their second opus. They played live in their region and they are looking for news gigs with others bands.

30 tracks of noisy samples or cold wave parts. The problem is that cold wave parts are not mixed with these noisy samples really. Thus, you have to choose noisy basic samples or musical tracks, no less no more. Moreover, a lot of noisy tracks last less than a minute and are very repetitive such as an introduction or a conclusion played at full lenght of the opus: Undigested ! Also, there is something wrong with the singer’s voice there because there are too much wrong notes in my opinion. But he’s not the first and may be not the last to sing in that way, you know: A depressive and tormented voice with cold wave influences (Joy Division, Dead Can Dance) but wrong this time. Other musicians did it before like he does and people like it sometimes. So you should be not afraid with this kind of vocals if you are familiar with it and you may enjoy this project in addition if you identify it to an harum-scarum such as Europa, or more Civilization, is. Therefore, “Rosary” is an experimental opus without ending such as an U.F.O. without signalement. A musical concept ? A provocation ? A challenge ? I don’t know. May be more a deep self investigation into psychic, violence (psychical violence ?) such as they shut up in a asylum…but who are “they” ? So, this opus is something different and without compromise. It is for tormented minds…may be…A last, I would end with this information: Parade Ground is the project of Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly. Additional sounds and production by Patrick Codenys.

Perditor : In Sign Syo (5 tracks / Perditor / Perditor). CD 2003. Ordealis Records. Interesting stuff with very fast black metal parts and thrash death metal influences such as old Immortal, Morbid Angel and Slayer. Never boring because the band use a lot of variations for each track. Sometimes it looks like Dark Funeral, sometimes not ! They have a lot of good ideas and it's very intensive. Devilish screaming vocals and psychotik short lead guitars parts. Powerful, sick and great ! 666, in the name of the Lord ! The band exist since 1997. They come from Holland and played some gigs with Watain and Enthroned. If you like this stuff, you probably will appreciate their ultra limited live tape out now !...if you will get it !

First of all, forget all you have heard from the Australian scene because it has nothing to do with it.Neither trash or death metal influences mixed with black metal here, nor this particular blend of « war metal » bands such as Spear of Longinus,Gospel of the Horns or Urgrund are used to.This is total blackness,no more,no less. This band, hailing from the New South Wales region,Terra Australis,is quite good despite its youth. The record is sometimes reminiscent of Astrofaes’ « The eyes of the beast »,insofar as it displays raw, linear yet melodic black metal. The vocals are quite similar to it too,but this is just in order to put the release into context, and again the comparison relies on grounds of atmosphere and overall pace of the album, not on the riffing. The record alternates between long pure black metal titles and acoustic or keyboard pieces of obscure and occult beauty :a hymn to the pathetic downfall of mankind. I have never heard an Australian band creating such an amount of darkness,we plunge into this void never to rise again.Chants of despair and desolation. This opus is built in three parts : The fate / Embrace after death /Putrify ep (never released before) It’s a good thing having added the latter,it enables the listener to get a glimpse of the what was recorded in the past, without making the whole piece incoherent..Beware,for the beast is said to spread its pestilential claws out of its Australian frontiers in 2006.A promo tape should soon see the light on the same label. This is a band to follow very closely,as it is only the beginning… « Your only comfort will be death/All life is lost,in tidal holocaust ». As they say, « it will strike you down and devour your soul ».

Remember you to their first opus “Velvet Gone” produced by Renaud Hantson (Satan Jokers, Furiozo…), Pyro is back with “Stab in the back”. Pyro is just what you need if you enjoyed Bon Scott and AC/DC. A lot of hard rock and blues influences, a singer with pitches that remember me to Bon Scott period. Listen to the influence of Angus Young after the example of “Cheshire cat smile” and you will immediately understand what Pyro is. Also, Pyro enlarges its references with old musical parts taken from the seventy years . Vocals sound like a mix of old Manilla Road and Bon Scott sometimes and it becomes more stronger and original with the two last tracks. Produced by Joel and Bruno Pyro with a great satisfaction because everything is quite arranged. Thus, “Stab in the back” is just an efficient release with Jay Burnett’s singing. The choice of rock’n blues influences intensifies the whole. The kind of stuffs for your evening party. A real opus cleared of commercial obligations. Don’t forget that they released another opus called “Stop the world”, produced by Armando Ferreira (H Bomb, Shine, Angra). You could also listen to their “Breaking Point” opus if you enjoy their music. At last you have to know that it is not the kind of stuff that I listen to everyday. But I felt a real pleasure with “Stab in the back”. More than an hour of music. Nothing more for adding !

Attention! Ready for return in the past? How make they to have a so ancient sound? Even the biggest bands who try to find the true genuine sound from the eighties do not find it. It is perfect on this album but it is necessary to add that the album was recorded in 1992, a good explanation veiled ! With a typical hard rock sound, an Anglo-Saxon singer of origin, and with a legendary metal voice, the whole is accompanied with keyboard in the ancient sound of rock harmony’s. They find themselves lost in the eighties between Van Halen, Viva, Paganini, Kiss or Dio. It misses Pyro to represent the French heavy metal and here are 30 years later (or too late ?) taken out from shade! What a shame that after 20 years of career the group still had no recognition which it deserves …For nostalgics of the old sound of the eighties this album will be necessary the album really remarkable. But we do not understand why it is not went out at the time of its recording.

Pyromaniac / Goatsemen Commando (Deimos/Pyromaniac) / 1 intro + 6 tracks + 1 outro / 2002. CD-R (demo) Excellent old skool and raw black metal influenced by Burzum for the first tracks. Then, it's different and something more as a mix of black and thrash metal. Disease bring more nuklear punk black metal as Impaled Nazarene does and then, two kovers to end this opus : Punishment is Absolute (Impaled Nazarene) and Countess Bathory (Venom). Pyromaniac want to show us they belong to this extreme scene and they manage to ! But I think this opus is too short to say what they kould do on their next cd. I didn't talk about their introduktion and konklusion. Well, if you like horror films sountracks, you will like it. And when outro is kalled Forest of Love it remind old Sam Raimi movies...remember... Evil Dead. Did it took from it ? I think so !

PZYCHOBITCH The Day After (2004, minuswelt musikfabrik/sony music, CD) by Fetishik. Is it possible to dislike such a band? I don’t think so. If you look at the artwork, if you read the name of the band, you can’t be unsensitive to what is Pzychobitch. This german band is leaded by the very sensual pink haired singer Sina (the one who also sings in her electro-rock band called S.I.N.A.) What kind of music does Pzychobitch plays? You will ask me. It is more simple, “The Day After”, their last full lengh album, mixs with subtlety electronic and groovy music with a very dark touch and un real personal style. What we notice is the fact that you can dance thaks to the Pzychobitch’s music, but you can also slacken yourself and make dark dreams. The Sina’s voice is what you will love first. I don’t know other women singing with such a sensuality. “The Day After”, the first song of the opus, introduces us what we could call “teh art of sensuality” sang in german. You will also notice some of the best songs of the album such as “Fitter Than You”, maybe the darkest one, “Sweet Kiss” and “Caress”, the two more sensual ones or “Nigthmare”. This album will make you dream and fall in love with femal vocals, you can be sure of that!
